Working Hard to Rebuild our National Security, Improve Economic Opportunity & Protect our Constitutional Liberties

Service Academy Review Board

Each year, dozens of young individuals from the 17th Congressional District apply to be considered for an appointment to our nation’s service academies. Members of Congress nominate deserving individuals to these academies. This is one of the most fulfilling and enjoyable responsibilities that I experience while serving the 17th Congressional District.

To help with the nomination process we have set up a Service Academy Review Board. The Board meets to interview the nominees and make recommendations for nomination. The Board is made up of constituents of the 17th Congressional District who have attended a service academy, served in our military or have a background in higher education. This non-partisan board will ensure a fair and impartial review process of all nomination applications.

We are currently seeking qualified volunteers to serve on the Service Academy Review Board and assist in this important process. The commitment would be to meet with the nominees once a year, usually in late October/early November. Board members are also invited to a reception honoring the nominees usually sometime in the spring. If you are interested in serving on the Board please submit a resume and short introduction of yourself to Penny Forrest at Penny.Forrest@mail.house.gov

Deadline for submissions is Friday, August 26, 2016.
