This week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 840, the Veterans' Access to Child Care Act, and Congressman Bill Flores (R-Texas) paid special tribute to three constituents who recently passed away. Congressman Flores released the following statements regarding passage of H.R. 840 and other news of the week, and the videos of his House floor speeches:

Veterans' Access to Child Care Act
"It is important that we do all we can to ensure that our nation’s veterans have seamless access to the care they have earned. The Veterans' Access to Child Care Act offers child care assistance for veterans who are receiving medical care. This bipartisan bill ensures that caring for a child does not create an unnecessary barrier to receiving needed health care services. Our nation’s veterans have sacrificed much for our nation and they should be provided with the best possible care and have their needs put first."

Honoring Dr. Robert Packard
Dr. Robert Packard of Waco passed away on January 5, 2019. Dr. Packard’s life was defined by his service to his family, to our country, to Baylor University and to the world. He will be forever remembered as a veteran, an educator of thousands, a mentor, a selfless servant and a friend.

Honoring Dr. Henry Dethloff
Dr. Henry Dethloff of College Station passed away on January 25, 2019. Dr. Dethloff’s life was defined by his service to his family, to our country and to Texas A&M University. He will be forever remembered as a veteran, a mentor, a selfless servant and a friend.

Honoring Charles Cargill
Charles "Chuck" Cargill of Bryan passed away on January 28, 2019. Chuck’s life was defined by his service to his family, to our country and to our Brazos Valley community. He will be forever remembered as a veteran, a selfless servant and friend.

Government Funding & Border Security
"House and Senate Members and the White House continue to negotiate on a bipartisan basis to fund parts of the federal government that have only been funded through February 15th and to develop improved security for our southern border.  As of today, no deal has been reached; however, we continue to encourage them to accomplish both objectives quickly and effectively."
