Today, U.S. Representative Bill Flores (R-Texas) was sworn in to serve the 17th Congressional District of Texas for the 116th Congress.

"It is a great honor to once again represent the constituents and communities of the 17th Congressional District of Texas for another term. Since first coming to Congress, I have worked with my fellow colleagues to improve economic opportunities for hardworking American families and to restore America’s promise, prosperity and security. During the 115th Congress, we passed over 400 bills that were signed into law, 99 percent of them were bipartisan.  It is my hope that during the 116th Congress the Democratic Majority will avoid political games and work with Republicans to continue our momentum of economic growth, opportunity and security for all Americans,” Congressman Flores said. “I look forward to serving in the 116th Congress and remain committed to representing the values and interests of the constituents of the 17th Congressional District."

Congressman Flores enters his fifth term in the U.S. House of Representatives representing the 17th Congressional District of Texas which includes all of McLennan, Brazos, Limestone, Freestone, Robertson, Falls, Milam and Burleson Counties and portions of Travis, Bastrop, Lee and Leon Counties.

After careful consideration of the pros and cons of the border security and government funding bill, I elected to support President Trump by voting for the bill. This bill averts another partial government shutdown, provides an important down payment on a physical border barrier to address the security crisis along our southern border (all of which will be built in Texas), gives ICE the resources they need to detain violent criminals, and funds key initiatives to improve border security technology. I cannot and will not ever vote against a national security funding bill when there is not another achievable option to enable the federal government to fulfill its most important Constitutional mission – keeping hardworking American families safe.
