U.S. Representative Bill Flores (R-Texas) has been selected to serve on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

"I am thrilled to announce that Rep. Bill Flores will be rejoining the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee. Bill has always prioritized the health and well-being of our nation’s veterans, and I know he will be an asset to our committee. I look forward to working with him as we continue our efforts to reform the department." said House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Phil Roe (R-Tenn.).

"It is an honor to once again serve on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee,” Congressman Flores said. “The 17th Congressional District of Texas is home to tens of thousands of veterans, and by rejoining the committee, I will be able to better serve and advocate on their behalf and on behalf of all of our nation’s veterans. I look forward to working with Chairman Roe and the Trump administration to ensure our veterans have access to the care and resources they have earned, and bring increased accountability and transparency to the VA. Together we can build a 21st century VA that provides our nation’s veterans with the best possible care and prioritizes veterans’ interests."

Flores added, "When I was appointed to the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee in late 2014, the rules of the Republican Conference prevented me from continuing my membership on any other House committee. Nonetheless, over the ensuing months, we continued to work with our Conference Leadership and Steering Committee to obtain a waiver to serve on both the Energy and Commerce Committee and the Veterans’ Affairs Committee. Today, those efforts came to fruition, and my dual membership on both committees puts me in a unique position to serve our veterans and the hardworking Texas families in District 17 and all across the state."

Congressman Flores served on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs from 2011 to 2014, during the 112th and 113th Congresses. He also chaired the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity during the 113th Congress. For more information about the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs visit

It was a busy week in the House. We passed the Intelligence Authorization Act and the Unfunded Mandates Information and Transparency Act, and the Energy and Commerce Committee passed my bipartisan bill – the Advanced Nuclear Fuel Availability Act.
