U.S. Representative Bill Flores (R-Texas) issued the following statement regarding Tax Day:

“Today marks the last time that hardworking Americans will file their taxes under our old, broken and outdated tax code. Thanks to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, our new tax code is simpler and fairer – it lowers tax rates for both individuals and small businesses, nearly doubles the standard deduction, doubles the child tax credit and repeals Obamacare’s individual mandate tax. Americans are already keeping more of their hard-earned pay thanks to lower tax rates. At the same time, many employees have also received bonuses, wage increases and enhanced benefits. Thanks to tax reform, regulatory reform and changes in energy policy, our economy is seeing a large boost with shrinking unemployment, more companies investing and economic confidence at a record high. By closing the book on last year’s antiquated tax code, we usher in a 21st century tax code that delivers more jobs, bigger paychecks and fairer taxes for hardworking American families.”
