Staff Report

U.S. Rep. Bill Flores of Bryan visited students at Oakwood Intermediate School in College Station on Monday to talk about investing in stocks, bonds and mutual funds.

The students are participating in the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association Foundation’s Capitol Hill Challenge program, a 14-week competition between fourth- through 12th-graders across the country. Student teams invest a hypothetical $100,000 in stocks, bonds and mutual funds to maximize their returns.

The top 10 teams in the country will be recognized at an awards reception in Washington, D.C., in June.
