Today, U.S. Representative Bill Flores (R-Texas) was sworn in to the 114th Congress.
“It is an honor to be able to represent the 17th Congressional District of Texas for a third term. A lot of work lies ahead of this new Congress as we work to restore trust and accountability to the American people,” Flores said. “The results of the midterm elections show that Americans want to see change come out of Washington. That change starts today as we begin working to improve economic opportunities for hardworking American families and to lead America toward a path which restores our promise, prosperity and security for current and future generations.”
For the 114th Congress, Congressman Flores will serve as Chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC). The RSC is an influential group of House Republicans organized for the purpose of advancing a conservative economic and social agenda in the House of Representatives.
“The RSC will be the largest, most influential caucus in Congress. As Chairman of the RSC, I am excited to begin working with our membership to advance positive, conservative solutions to strengthen our country and improve opportunities for all Americans,” Flores said. “We have a tremendous opportunity to positively influence legislation with conservative ideals that promote constitutionally limited government, an environment for more jobs and better paychecks, a strong national defense, fiscal responsibility and American family values.”
Flores will also serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee. His subcommittee assignments include Energy and Power, Environment and the Economy, and Oversight and Investigations.
“I am looking forward to serving on the Energy and Commerce Committee and believe that my three decades as a job creator in the energy industry can help positively influence policy coming from the committee. It is important that we work to make America a global energy superpower and to achieve American energy security. I am eager to join the committee for the 114th Congress,” Flores stated.
Congressman Flores enters his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives representing the 17th Congressional District of Texas which includes all of McLennan, Limestone, Freestone, Brazos, Robertson, Falls, Milam and Burleson Counties and portions of Travis, Bastrop, Lee and Leon Counties.
