Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 45, which would repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and health care-related provisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. Following passage of H.R. 45, Congressman Bill Flores (R-Texas) issued the following statement:

“Since the time I was first elected to Congress, I have made repealing ObamaCare one of my top priorities. This 2,400 page budget-busting, job-destroying law has created uncertainty for American businesses and hurt American job growth, economic growth and hardworking American families.

“Today, the House once again took the lead and passed legislation that would fully repeal ObamaCare. As a cosponsor of H.R. 45, I was pleased to see its passage with a bipartisan vote. The president’s ill-conceived health care law has been doomed to fail since it was first introduced. Proponents of ObamaCare originally had said that it would lower costs, improve quality and cover those that had a pre-existing condition. Yet, today we see that it will actually cost jobs, reduce choices, lower the quality of care and hurt the very people it was intended to help. In fact, we are beginning to see the law hurt employees as small businesses are considering cutting back hours for workers to comply with the law. One of the authors of this expensive and inefficient big government program even commented that it will be a ‘train wreck’.

“We must work towards legislation that will offer hardworking Americans the right kind of reform that lowers costs, improves the quality of care and protects jobs. It also important that we have input from all stakeholders and proceed in a deliberate, step-by-step manner to develop health care reforms that remain committed to protecting the patient-doctor relationship.”

Congressman Bill Flores represents the 17th District of Texas and is an entrepreneur, former energy executive, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and member of the House Budget, Natural Resources and Veterans’ Affairs Committees.
