By Matt Smith U.S. Rep. Bill Flores, R-Bryan, joined with fellow House Republican’s on Wednesday in voting for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. All House Republicans and five Democrats voted in support of the repeal. House Speaker John Boehner and other House Republicans scheduled the vote after the Supreme Court upheld the law last month by a 5-4 vote. The health care act, among other things, requires nearly all Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty tax. “Repealing Obamacare has been one of my top priorities since being sworn into Congress,” Flores said. “And, as of now, I have voted 31 times to repeal, defund or dismantle the president’s health care law. We should never forget that Obamacare was passed in the middle of the night by the last Congress without being fully read and fully understood. It fails in its primary goals of controlling costs and allowing Americans to keep their current health care coverage. It also hurts our taxpayers by adding over 20 new taxes costing more than $800 billion. And the worst of these problems is that Obamacare violates our Constitutional liberties.
