Working Hard to Rebuild our National Security, Improve Economic Opportunity & Protect our Constitutional Liberties

The Declaration of Independence reminds us that all people have inalienable rights – among them, the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. To secure these rights, our Founding Fathers believed that the federal government must provide for the common defense of our great Nation. Today our service men and women remain actively involved in combat operations worldwide to confront the ongoing Global War on Terrorism.

I am committed to ensuring that the men and women of our Nation’s armed forces have the best possible equipment, training, and support and I will work to ensure that the troops have what they need to succeed wherever they are sent. Our Nation’s military men and women protect U.S. interests and stand up for the rights of oppressed people around the world. They are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for this country and are the world’s first lines of defense against any expansion of tyranny or attempts at terrorist activity. Our troops deserve our prayers and every resource available to help them in their mission.

After careful consideration of the pros and cons of the border security and government funding bill, I elected to support President Trump by voting for the bill. This bill averts another partial government shutdown, provides an important down payment on a physical border barrier to address the security crisis along our southern border (all of which will be built in Texas), gives ICE the resources they need to detain violent criminals, and funds key initiatives to improve border security technology. I cannot and will not ever vote against a national security funding bill when there is not another achievable option to enable the federal government to fulfill its most important Constitutional mission – keeping hardworking American families safe.
