Flores Votes for GOP Budget: "The Path to Prosperity"

House Republicans Call for Bold Action to Restore America's Promise

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Bill Flores (R-Texas) released the following statement today after the House passed Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and the House Budget Committee’s fiscal year 2012 House budget resolution:

“I am proud to support the budget introduced by Chairman Paul Ryan and my fellow colleagues on the House Budget Committee, which calls for bold action to chart a new course for the country: Path to Prosperity. Through fostering a better environment for job creation and economic growth, implementing $6.2 trillion in spending cuts, ensuring health and retirement security for all Americans, and repealing and replacing ObamaCare, this plan restores America’s exceptional promise for future generations.

“Meanwhile, the irresponsible budget that President Obama touts calls for record spending, taxes and debt, accelerating our country down a path to bankruptcy. President Obama and Washington Democrats’ continued abdication of their responsibilities has led our nation further in the wrong direction. But House Republicans feel it is our duty to protect the American people from the debt-driven economic crisis and the diminished future advanced by the Democrats’ failed leadership. That is why I was sent to Washington.

“Coming from a career in the private sector, I know that implementing real spending cuts and reforms and keeping taxes low will allow us to earn back the trust of the American people, restore certainty for the private sector and spur job creation. These tough, yet responsible decisions must be made so that we may restore America’s promise, prosperity and security for our children and grandchildren.”
