This week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 1430, the Honest and Open New EPA Science Treatment (HONEST) Act and H.R. 1431, the EPA Science Advisory Board Reform Act. Congressman Bill Flores (R-Texas) issued the following statement regarding passage of these bills:
“This week, the House voted to restore integrity and accountability at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Under the Obama administration, the EPA would issue regulations based on ideological solutions in search of a problem with little or no transparency during the rulemaking process. The HONEST Act ensures that EPA regulations are based upon sound science and that its studies are publicly available. The EPA Science Advisory Board Reform Act ensures that the science guiding EPA’s regulatory policy is objective, balanced and open to public review. These bipartisan bills will help restore confidence in the EPA and will bring us one step closer to a transparent and honest federal government."
